The Best Christmas Gift Ever: Surprising Charlie with Foo Fighters Tickets!

Christmas morning is always magical, but this year, we pulled off a surprise that made it truly unforgettable.  Our 14 year old son, Charlie, a budding guitarist and music aficionado with impeccable taste (just like his mum!), got the shock of his life when he thought all the presents were opened and then discovered he was going to see the Foo Fighters!

The Pre-Christmas Deception

Let me set the scene.  As a huge Foo Fighters fan myself, I'd been eagerly anticipating the release of their new tour tickets.  I even took the day off work, armed with coffee and an optimistic spirit, ready to battle the online queues.  Charlie knew my mission and was getting excited himself.

Later that day, when he came home from school, I showed him a picture of the endless virtual queue I'd faced.  My heart broke a little as I told him the news. That after waiting in the queue, I'd finally gotten through, only to find a single ticket left.  He was gutted and honestly, so was I for having to pretend but I didn't want to spoil his Christmas present!  Little did he know, a secret triumph had already occurred.  While one site let me down, a quick switch to another platform had paid off, and I'd managed to snag three Foo Fighters tickets in the Kop at Anfield!

Christmas Morning

Christmas Day itself was a blur of excitement. Charlie, loved his gifts and was over the moon with his new electric guitar.  Little did he know,  we had something special brewing.  As he was settling into the post gift opening lull.  The wrapping paper was scattered, the ribbons untied, and he was convinced the excitement was over for another year.  Then out from behind the tree we pulled out one last surprise a small box and inside tickets to the Foo Fighters at Anfield.  He was gobsmacked and gave me the biggest squeeze ever.
