Our sports obsessed household has been counting down the days to the release of the film GOAT, so the excitement levels were already sky high before we even stepped through the doors of Cineworld Warrington. The boys especially have been buzzing for weeks, anything sport themed instantly becomes the event of the week in our home, so this cinema trip was a proper family outing.
First Stop: Snacks, Surprises and a Massive Merch Sale
As always, we headed straight to the counter for fresh popcorn. The smell alone is enough to put everyone in a good mood, but things got even better when the staff told us about a huge sale on film merchandise. Everything from recent films was reduced to £1 each or 3 for £2. We grabbed the boys an Avatar cup with a dragon perched on the lid, then for our freebie we chose a Wicked light up popcorn bucket, we were told that these were originally £25 so we got an absolute bargain.
Heading to the Screen: GOAT‑Themed Goodies
Once we made our way over to the screen, staff checked our tickets and surprised the boys again , this time with GOAT themed thorns towels. A small touch, but one that made the experience feel special and tied into the film perfectly. The boys were thrilled, It’s not every day you get freebies from the cinema
Film Review: GOAT (2026)
I went in expecting a standard animated movie, but it was clear right away from the comic book aesthetic that the film was made by Sony Pictures Animation (the same studio and creative team behind Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and they have delivered something really fun with GOAT.
The Plot (No Spoilers!)
The story follows Will Harris (voiced by Caleb McLaughlin), a small goat with massive dreams of playing Roarball, an exciting, animal version of basketball. In a world dominated by rhinos and panthers, Will has to prove that "smalls can ball." It’s a classic underdog story with a modern twist. There are plenty of nods to viral memes and social media that older kids will find hilarious, while the younger ones will just love the fast paced "Roarball" action. It's a film perfect for the whole family to enjoy.
