Beyond the Strip: Why The Bagel Nook in Summerlin is a Must Visit for Foodies
In Las Vegas, the glitz and glamour of the Strip is hard to ignore, but if you’re looking for a true culinary adventure that locals rave about, you need to head West. During our recent trip, we ventured out to Summerlin to visit The Bagel Nook, a small café near the Summerlin shopping centre. We’d heard whispers of their legendary overload bagels and pancake stacks, and let’s just say, the whispers didn't do it enough justice.
A Warm Welcome and Massive Portions
From the moment we stepped inside, the vibe was buzzing. We were greeted by the store manager, who walked us through the extensive (and slightly mind-blowing) menu.
One thing you need to know before you go, the portions are huge. We quickly realised that the best strategy was to order a variety of items from the menu and share. The Bagel Nook is a true gem with an incredible array of sweet and savoury options and unfortunately we have nothing like this back home.
The Savory Stars: "The Fatty" & Cajun Chicken
We started of with 2 savoury bagels to share. These are the heavy hitters that we chose;
- The Fatty: This is the ultimate breakfast meets lunch creation. Packed with egg, cheese, pork roll, bacon, and sausage, it’s a meat lover's dream.
- Kickin' Chicken: This featured perfectly seasoned spicy chicken, bacon, cheese, tomato, and lettuce. The flavour combo was incredible.
Both bagels were piled so high with fillings that it was a genuine challenge to get our mouths around them! The flavours were bold, the ingredients fresh, and every bite was mouthwatering.
The "Cookie Monster" Experience
For the sweet tooth in the group, Charlie went for the famous Cookie Monster. This isn't just a bagel, it’s an event. It featured a twisted Oreo bagel stuffed with:
- Bright blue "Cookie Monster" cream cheese
- Whole Oreo cookies
- Milk chocolate chip cookies
It’s whimsical, vibrant, and surprisingly delicious, a total Instagram favourite that tastes as good as it looks.
Perfectly Flipped Pancakes
Louie decided to pivot away from bagels and opted for the pancake stack. Topped with rich chocolate sauce and fresh strawberries, the pancakes were fluffy, cooked to perfection, and provided that classic comfort food hit we were craving.
Don’t Skip the Snickerdoodle Coffee
While the food takes center stage, the drink menu deserves a shoutout. I tried the Snickerdoodle flavored coffee, and it was a revelation. It had that perfect hint of cinnamon and sugar that kept me going back for refills. It’s the perfect companion to a savory bagel.
Why You Should Make the Trip
The Bagel Nook offers a level of creativity you won't find in your average coffee shop. Whether you want a protein packed savoury meal or a sugar filled "Overload" bagel, this café delivers. If you're tired of the overpriced tourist traps on the Strip, take the drive to Summerlin. The Bagel Nook is a complete treat and well worth the trek for the unique flavour combinations alone.
