A Taste of Vegas Perfection: Why Chin Chin at New York-New York is a Must-Visit
If you’re planning a trip to the Las Vegas Strip, you’re likely overwhelmed by the sheer number of dining options. If you are looking for an authentic, mouth watering, Asian dining experience, look no further than Chin Chin.
Located inside the iconic New York-New York Hotel & Casino, tucked away amidst the replicas of the Brooklyn Bridge and the New York skyline is a culinary experience that genuinely blew us away. Chin Chin isn’t just a meal, it’s an experience that topped our list of favourite eats in Vegas. It was easily one of the best Asian dining experiences we’ve ever had. Here is why this spot should be at the top of your itinerary.
Service That Makes You Feel Like Family
From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding. Las Vegas can sometimes feel rushed, but the staff at Chin Chin were incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming to us and our boys. There’s a warmth here that you don’t always find in high traffic Strip restaurants. They gave us plenty of time to look through the menu and helped us navigate the best options for a hungry family of four.
The Appetizers: A Pro-Tip You Need to Know
We kicked things off with a spread of classics:
- Chicken Wonton Soup: Comfort in a bowl.
- Spring Rolls: Perfectly crisp and fresh.
- Shrimp (Prawn) Toast: This was the star of the starters.
The Pro-Tip: The restaurant manager suggested we squeeze fresh lime over the prawn toast. Back home, we’d never tried this combination, but it was a total game-changer. The acidity cut through the richness of the toast and elevated the flavor to a whole new level. Trust us, don't skip the lime!
The Main Event: Family-Style Feasting
One of the best things about Chin Chin is that the meals are served family-style. Everything is designed to be shared, which is perfect for groups who want to taste a bit of everything, though we may have over ordered just a little bit!
Between Mark, Charlie, and myself, we shared:
- Salt and Pepper Chicken: Perfectly seasoned, packed with flavour and with that signature crunch.
- Dan Dan Peanut Spicy Noodles: These had a fantastic kick and a rich, creamy texture from the peanut.
- Yang Chow Fried Rice: The perfect accompaniment packed with shrimp and pork.
- General Tso’s Chicken: This was our first time trying this dish, and oh my, it did not disappoint. It was perfectly crispy with just the right balance of sweet and spicy. It has since become my go-to order back home, though I have to admit, nowhere else has quite managed to beat the version here.
Meanwhile, Louie was more than happy with his own massive portion of Chicken Fried Rice, which he absolutely devoured.
A quick warning for fellow foodies: The portions are massive. Despite our best efforts, it was a bit too much food for me, Mark, and Charlie to finish. We would have happily taken the leftovers back to our hotel if we’d have had a way to reheat them!
The Show-Stopping Dessert: Okinawa Snow
Even though we were stuffed, we couldn't resist the Okinawa Snow. This dessert is a literal show-stopper. Imagine a delicious fruit sorbet nestled on a bed of dairy based shaved ice. It was light, refreshing, and visually stunning and the perfect palate cleanser after a savoury feast.
Final Thoughts: Our Top Vegas Recommendation
f you find yourself wandering through New York-New York, do your tastebuds a favour and book a table. Out of all the incredible restaurants we visited during our stay, Chin Chin is the one that leaves our mouths watering the most and keeps us longing to return to Las Vegas to taste it again.
