If you’ve been following our travels, you’ll know we have a serious appreciation for great food and authentic dining experiences. When we arrived in Las Vegas, one of the things we were most excited for was the food and visiting Galpao Gaucho was high on our list.
We visited Galpao Gaucho on a Friday evening after a fun packed day at Area 15 and let’s just say we didn’t need to eat again for about 24 hours. It wasn’t just a dinner, it was basically a marathon of steak.
Located in the Fashion Show Mall right on the Las Vegas Strip, this isn't just a meal, it’s a parade of the finest meats served in the traditional Rodizio style. Here is what you can expect when you step into this gaucho inspired paradise.
What is the Rodizio Experience?
For those who haven't tried a Brazilian Steakhouse before, the concept is simple but brilliant and Galpao Gaucho is the best Brazilian steakhouse on the Las Vegas Strip.
There’s a gourmet salad bar with over 40 items to choose from including a selection of cured meats, local and imported cheeses, gourmet salads, and fresh vegetables. Then there are 17 different selections from the grill that are constantly rotated and brought straight to your table by the gauchos.
You are given a small card which is green on one side and red on the other.
- Green Side: "Yes please!" This signals the roaming Passadores (meat servers) to stop at your table with large skewers of grilled meats.
- Red Side: "I’m taking a break." This gives you a moment to breathe and enjoy your sides before the next round begins.
Cooke’s Top Tip: Try the Caipirinha! It’s Brazil’s national cocktail made with cachaça, sugar, and lime. It’s the most authentic way to kick off your meal at Galpao Gaucho.
The Salad Bar
I always tell myself I’m going to be disciplined at the salad bar to save room for the steak, but Galpao Gaucho makes that impossible. This isn't just a bowl of wilted lettuce, it’s a massive spread of stuff you’d actually pay good money to eat on its own. The smoked salmon, chicken and bacon pasta and imported cheeses were dangerous.
Cooke’s Top Tip: It is tempting to fill your plate at the salad bar, but remember to save plenty of room for the main event!
The Star of the Show: The Meats
The Rodizio style is always a blast because of the little cards, flip it to green if you’re hungry, or red if you’re about to slip into a food coma. When green it's a never ending parade of incredible food with 17 different selections of meat and fish from the grill brought to your table by the gauchos and you get to try a little bit of everything (or a lot if you wish).
The Star of the Show: The 24-Carat Gold Steak: Okay, we have to talk about the gold steak, it's the ultimate "only in Vegas" moment. It’s a premium cut wrapped entirely in 24 carat gold leaf that was carved and cooked to perfection at our table. Honestly, we weren't sure if it would just be for the 'gram, but the meat was incredibly tender and perfectly cooked. It’s flashy, it’s delicious, and it definitely made us feel like high rollers for a night.
The Picanha: This is the one everyone talks about, and for good reason . It’s a prime sirloin cap with just enough sea salt. It’s the kind of meat that literally melts in your mouth..
The Surprise Standouts: We thought it was all about the meat but the chicken wrapped in bacon and the grilled salmon were incredible. The salmon was cooked perfectly and was accompanied by a delicious passionfruit sauce.
Grilled Pineapple: Don’t skip this! The cinnamon sugar coating on the warm, grilled pineapple is the perfect palate cleanser between savory cuts.
Atmosphere and Service
The restaurant itself strikes a perfect balance between upscale elegance and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Despite being in the heart of the busy Las Vegas Strip, the dining room felt sophisticated and relaxed.
The staff at Galpao Gaucho truly made us feel like part of the family. They were quick to refill our Pão de Queijo (the addictive Brazilian cheese bread) and our glasses were never empty. It’s the perfect for a special family dinner or a date night.
Pricing & Family Value
Galpao Gaucho is a fixed price, all you can eat deal. It’s not cheap, but compared to a standard high end steakhouse where a side of potatoes costs $18, the value here is actually incredible because of the quality and the sheer amount of food. They also offer tiered pricing perfect for families which makes makes a nice meal much more manageable if you’re traveling with kids:
- Adults: $57 per person (Monday–Friday) / $77 per person (Weekends).
- Children (7–11): 50% off.
- Children (4–6): Only $6.
- Children (3 and under): Free!
The Logistics
Where it is: It’s right on the strip at the front of the Fashion Show Mall. If you’re staying on the North end of the Strip, it’s a super easy walk.
The Parking Hack: Parking at the Fashion Show Mall is free and easy whic is a rarity for the Las Vegas Strip.
Reservations: Definitely grab one on OpenTable before you go. It gets busy, especially right before the big shows start.
Our Final Verdict
Is it worth it? Absolutely. Between the 17 different cuts of meat and the fact that the little ones can eat for next to nothing, it’s a fantastic restaurant to visit as a family. If you want to skip the standard, mediocre buffets and actually have fantastic meal that everyone will talk about, Galpao Gaucho is a must visit that we rate 10/10. Just make sure you wear your stretchy pants!
